The Indian business daily, Business Today reported that Indian Tech company Tech Mahindra will be implementing an anti-spam call solution powered by Blockchain.

This solution aims at allowing the telecom companies in India to comply with Telecom Authority of India (TRAI)’s regulation to protect the service subscriber from Unsolicited Commercial Communication(UCC), which will come into effect in the last week of May.

According to the Global Practice Leader of Blockchain at Tech Mahindra, Rajesh Dhuddu, TRAI’s regulation will affect around 800 million subscribers.

The solution aims at saving and sharing a user’s incoming contact settings, i.e. who they have consented to receive communications from, using the Blockchain. Tech Mahindra says that it had provided the proof of concept for this solution in conjunction with Microsoft to TRAIhttps://main.trai.gov.in back in 2018.

Dhuddu praised Blockchain Tech for its ability to repair what he views as a trust deficit in Government to Citizen(G2C) services and business transactions. According to Dhuddu, and immutable features such as Secure Hash Algorithms, Consensus-based decision making and immutable transactions, serves as a great solution for growing trust deficit not only in G2C services but also in the overall business world.

Also, it has been previously reported that Tech Mahindra is working with Samsung’s blockchain platform Nextledger to implement Blockchain solutions. This arrangement allows Tech Mahindra to grow its operations in India and Samsung to expand its international blockchain opportunites.
