OVER recently hosted a show like no other on the historic Piazza del Duomo in Milan on 31st March, 2023, as part of the Metaverse Fashion Week. Not only did the event invite many of the top names in the business like Pinko, Space Runners x Balmain, Ecoolska, Pet Liger, XR Couture, PwC Italy, Forbes, and Ilona Song in collaboration with Vogue Singapore, but it also set a precedent in terms of showcasing why Milan is the heart of fashion and OVER the centerpiece of AR.
Invited guests included conventional and cutting-edge fashion brands, media, representatives from Diesel, Lamborghini, and Israel’s Economic Mission in Italy, and Korea’s first virtual influencer, Rozy Oh. They were all mesmerized by a dazzling display of virtual wearables from their vantage point on Terrazza Duomo 21. Huge virtual models emerged from behind the structure, strutting across the Piazza, adorned with cutting-edge designs from the participating brands.
Guests overlooking the Piazza witnessed this brilliance via smart devices equipped with the OVER app, which acts as the portal to the AR metaverse ecosystem. The experience was powered by OVER’s map2earnⓇ technology, which can be utilized by owners of OVER digital land and the creator community to create a 3D record of locations and then place or ‘geolocate’ virtual assets inside the space with an accuracy of 20 centimeters, which is much better than traditional GPS systems.
