BNB Chain Introduces Rollup Service for Layer-2 Blockchains

On March 14, BNB Chain announced the launch of its rollup-as-a-service (RaaS) solution designed to assist projects in constructing layer-2 networks on the BNB Chain ecosystem. This service provides access to essential technical infrastructure, facilitating the deployment of layer-2 networks on the blockchain and thereby broadening BNB Chain’s ecosystem.

The RaaS solution extends support to decentralized applications (DApps), enabling various project verticals such as blockchain gaming and decentralized finance to leverage layer-2 networks. Additionally, BNB Chain offers rollup management assistance and a “no-code” deployment option, catering to projects unfamiliar with coding practices.

According to the BNB Chain development team, the layer-2 networks established through the RaaS service will be constructed on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC), serving as the foundational layer-1 blockchain and governance chain.

This initiative aligns with BNB Chain’s overarching goal of fostering the widespread adoption of Web3 technology. The development team emphasized their commitment to supporting layer-2 networks, citing their previous efforts dating back to 2023. They referenced the introduction of opBNB, a layer-2 scaling solution based on the Optimism OP Stack, which underwent testing on a testnet before being deployed onto a mainnet on Sept. 13. The team reported impressive statistics, including over 35 million transactions handled and 150 DApps deployed during the testnet phase, with the platform achieving 4,000 transactions per second (TPS) during stress testing.

The introduction of the rollup service is part of BNB Chain’s broader strategic objectives outlined in its “BNB Chain 2024 Outlook,” released on Jan. 31. This outlook includes the “One BNB” interconnectivity concept, aimed at linking BSC with BNB Greenfield, its decentralize
