Seven Metaverse Technologies For The Year 2022

Whether it’s gaming software, cloud computing, semiconductor chips, virtual reality (VR) headsets, or non-fungible tokens, the metaverse is the most exciting place for large businesses to use technology to expand their reach. Mark Zuckerberg is still pushing Meta into the virtual world in 2022 and beyond, and big companies are thinking about working together with the platform to reach more people worldwide. Some well-known companies have weak ties to the brand, but those with big goals and many partnerships with the metaverse in many areas will likely impact society the most. Find out about the metaverse plans of some of the most ambitious tech companies, like Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia, Unity, and Roblox.

Alphabet Inc.

Alphabet, which owns Google, is one of the world’s most valuable technology companies, making intelligent investments in Metaverse-related activities. According to a Bloomberg interview, Google CEO Sundar Pichai invested $39.5 million in the metaverse to “evolve computers with immersive augmented reality.”

Project Starline is a 3D interface that uses augmented reality, virtual reality, machine learning, computer vision, spatial audio, and real-time compression to make virtual reality interaction as smooth and accurate as possible without a headset. At the Google Cloud Next 2022 event a few days ago, CEO Thomas Kurian revealed four new cloud-computing tools for use in the Metaverse and Web3, including a partnership with Coin Base (per Venture Beat).

Amazon

Forbes says that Amazon.com, Inc. has already added Metaverse technology to its platform. The company signed deals to give Prime members early access to movies. With its revolutionary Room Decor, a virtual reality (VR) shopping application that lets customers see their furnishings on a smartphone or tablet, users can personalize the characteristics of their living space and visualize how it will appear in reality. Even augmented reality may store reality images for later use.

Amazon has access to an infinite number of resources, so you may soon hear about more big Metaverse news. Insider Monkey says that Amazon released its famous online role-playing game (RPG) AWS Cloud Quest in March 2022. This game lets players improve their cloud-computing skills by solving puzzles, going on adventures, and earning points in an immersive virtual world.

Decentraland

According to crowdcreate.us, Decentraland is the first decentralized blockchain-powered arena in the metaverse. It combines social media, virtual reality, and digital marketplaces. As the use of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and cryptocurrencies continues to grow after 2022, Decentraland has become a significant player in the metaverse.

In the 3D virtual world browser, users may buy land in the form of non-fungible tokens using MANA (NFTs). While other digital companies like Binance have entered the NFT Metaverse space, Decentraland has even more ambitious plans for the near future, including a four-day VR music event for November (per nftevening.com).

Epic Games

Gaming is one of the most popular things in the metaverse, and Epic Games didn’t wait to join the tournament. esportsinsider.com says that in April 2022, Epic Games used money from Sony and KIRKBI to spend $2 billion to improve its position in the metaverse. According to Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida, the purpose is to develop “new digital fan experiences in sports,” but details are restricted.

The hit game series Fortnite helps Epic Games reach its goal of taking over the metaverse. Forbes says that in September 2022, Epic Games gave Hadean, a company that builds infrastructure for the metaverse, an extra $30 million to help it grow its presence in the metaverse.

Microsoft

Bill Gates is directing Microsoft towards lofty future ambitions in the metaverse. Microsoft is making meta-related products, tools, and programs on its Holographic Mesh platforms, such as Azure, Windows, Office365, and LinkedIn. Microsoft reportedly paid a staggering $70 billion down payment on the Metaverse in January 2022 when it purchased video gaming,g firm Activision Blizzard for Xbox, as reported by Bloomberg.

The source said the big purchase would “speed up the spread of Microsoft’s gaming division across mobile, PC, console, and the cloud and lay the foundation for the Metaverse.” Tech Radar says that Microsoft, Valve, and HP are working together to make the new HP Reverb G2 compete with Meta Quest and the great Oculus Quest VR equipment.

NVIDIA

NVIDIA is one of the most important companies in the gaming, mobile, and PC sectors (GPUs) because it is a well-known maker of graphics processing units (GPUs). According to Venture Beat, the top company provided Omniverse cloud services in one hundred countries in September 2022 to keep the metaverse running well.

Due to its unique Omniverse functionality, NVIDIA is one of the most critical parts of the metaverse. This platform lets businesses work together in a virtual space and use digital assets to simulate many different scenarios in real-time. According to Insider Monkey, over 500 companies, including Amazon, Lockheed Martin, and others, have used NVIDIA’s Omniverse.

The Roblox Corporation

Roblox’s user-generated, open-platform content has hopes for the future of the metaverse. The social network allows users to connect, make friends, collaborate on digital chores, and play Roblox’s most popular games in 2022. Yahoo states that Roblox’s Roblox Studio and Client features differentiate it in the metaverse.

Roblox Studio is a free program that lets artists and programmers make, share, and run 3D environments. The Roblox Client allows users to “visit 3D digital worlds built by other users,” which is a vital part of the Metaverses interoperability paradigm. Roblox has Roblox Education, which helps kids learn through more virtual play and a wide range of games.

Unity Apparatus

Most technical information shows that Unity Software will be one of the most critical players in the metaverse in 2022. Nasdaq quotes Unity Software: “Our platform offers a complete set of software solutions for creating, operating, and monetizing interactive, real-time 2D and 3D content for mobile phones, tablets, PCs, consoles, and augmented and virtual reality devices.”

Unity Software is more ready to take over the metaverse than other tech companies. That is because it is based in the gaming industry. Yahoo says that in March 2022, Unity announced it would work with Insomniac Events to put on large virtual concerts in the metaverse. Fans of any band could meet in a single virtual arena, no matter where they were in the real world.
