Olivier Pacaud of Hays Technology discusses the potential impact of the metaverse and other technologies on hiring.

Recently, Hays Technology declared that it had joined the metaverse. An intriguing breakthrough in how we communicate and one with many practical applications is the growing use of the metaverse, where individuals may interact via avatars in both public and private settings.

Additionally, widespread adoption is not far off. The metaverse and the augmented worlds it supports are gaining traction quickly. In 2021, more Oculus VR headsets will be sold than Xbox systems. While there are many ways to improve our gaming experience, the advantages can be simply adapted to the workplace. According to Mark Zuckerberg, working together will be one of the primary ways people use the metaverse in the future. He is perhaps the technology’s largest proponent through his business Meta.

Recruiting and looking for work in the metaverse

Previously, we used job boards and brochures in store windows to promote local employment openings. We advertised positions in publications and over the phone to reach a larger talent pool. We also hosted recruiting fairs to meet potential employees.

In the digital age, social media and specialized job sites have supplanted these channels as the most efficient methods for us to discover and select personnel and for job seekers to share their profiles. We now communicate immediately through direct messages, emails, and even brief introductory videos.

In the metaverse, there are numerous chances to apply this recruitment method. Online job boards may take off as central locations for job seekers. Similar to this, early examples of metaverse job fairs demonstrate their potential but also point out that much work remains.

  • Recruiting is changing with the help of new technologies.
  • Other technologies will also impact how we recruit, not just the metaverse.

A blockchain will allow applicants to upload their resumes. Since there is no way to retroactively modify these data, hiring parties can be confident in the qualifications of candidates by learning about their credentials through verified references from prior employers or educational institutions.

The screening may now be done to a better standard than before, thanks to artificial intelligence models. There will always be a need for job interviews in the real world; conducting them remotely, the metaverse is the next natural step. The setting naturally supports interactive components like tasks or presentations.

To better understand daily life at the company, candidates can also tour the office and meet possible coworkers. The same guidelines can be used when onboarding a new employee. It will be simpler to manage interactive learning remotely in addition to inductions.

Since it will enable individuals to get to know one another randomly in a natural way that scheduled video chats cannot recreate, it is worthwhile to establish a location that replicates the office setting. This has already been investigated by Hyundai Mobis, who introduced and trained new staff utilizing the metaverse.

Where might we soon expect to see this?

Although not all of these occurrences will be widespread, we must acknowledge that the technological developments we witness have real benefits. The metaverse provides a useful platform for hiring without boundaries and expands employment options for a global workforce.

Unfortunately, certain nations are currently unprepared for this circumstance; therefore, in the future, legislation governing international hiring will need to be changed if we are to fully realize the technology’s potential, which would allow businesses to quickly discover qualified people anywhere in the world.

Given that the tech sector is where the metaverse is being developed and marketed, it is likely that this sector will be the first to integrate it into its working environment, especially in the entertainment sector, given its enormous potential. Based on how productive it is, we may see increased adoption in other sectors, like construction and even retail.

Soon, the construction of the metaverse will attract an increasing number of software developers. They will probably be initially attracted to the entertainment business, but they will also play a significant part in the future workplace.
